Steel Pan Drums at North Shore Elementary

Foundry Hall coordinated a week long workshop with all of the 4th and 5th graders at North Shore Elementary with music therapist Jean Raabe.  She shared stories about her life and work in Trinidad including the 20+ years of playing with Phase II Pan Groove, a steel pan band.  All of the students learned about how the steel pan drums are made and had the opportunity to play them and work with other students to learn a song.  There was extra time allotted for student council members to learn several songs which they performed for the whole school, family and community members on Friday.  This project was made possible by the Foundry Hall Creating Community Fund.
